We are a Live Action Role Play (LARP) group based out of Red Deer, AB. Our focus is on healthy living, community, and medieval enthusiasm. The main event is our weekly Battlegroup meet-up—our most popular activity—where we gear up in real armor, grab foam-safe weapons, and sharpen our combat skills the old-fashioned way.

You can get started as young as 13 years old fighting for one of three camps, the invading Vikings, the stalwart Celtics, or the noble Saxons. Each camp has its advantages, and you’ll learn a lot from your fellow camp mates.
The Red Stags of Red Deer offer far more than just swordplay. We host a wide range of immersive activities that bring the spirit of the medieval era roaring back to life.
Our cornerstone experience is the Battlegroup—ongoing training in the art of medieval warfare. Whether you’re learning the basics or clashing in advanced battle scenarios and tournament-style duels, you’ll wield padded weapons like short swords, axes, and long swords in thrilling, full-speed mock combat.
New to the field? We’ve got you covered with introductory workshops and foundational training. Ready to level up? Our experienced members dive deeper into advanced techniques and master a broader range of historical weaponry.
But battle isn’t the only path. For those drawn to the creative and cultural side of history, Red Stags also celebrates the arts and traditions of the medieval world. Explore drama, dance, calligraphy, heraldry, or delve into the old-world knowledge of herbs, blacksmithing, leatherwork, woodworking, and more.
We’re proud to take part in local faires and festivals, showcasing the full spectrum of medieval life. From archery courses to leadership training, Red Stags is a place to grow your skills, ignite your imagination, and connect with a passionate community.
